Moon phases influence deer movement, but weather trumps all. This phase is prime for afternoon hunts watch for increased activity!

If you’ve followed me for a while, you know I strongly believe that moon phases influence deer movement, particularly in determining where and when they travel. However, I also believe that weather trumps everything, including moon phases. When all conditions are equal, though, the moon undeniably plays a role in how and when deer move.

With 48 years of deer hunting experience and 36 years of keeping a detailed hunting diary, I’ve seen patterns emerge that confirm the moon’s impact. If you still have cellular cameras out, you’ve likely noticed an increase in deer activity, especially in the afternoons over the past day or two. This trend will continue for the next three or four days due to the current moon phase.

This particular moon phase is one of my favorites for hunting food sources in the afternoons. Deer tend to be more active during this period, creating great opportunities for hunters who understand these patterns.

We will be discussing this topic in greater detail with our subscribers in the coming year, diving deeper into how moon phases, weather, and other factors influence deer movement. Stay tuned for more insights and strategies to improve your success in the field!
